I have grown up in a society that believes that your parent consent in marriage is very important. It is important for your parents to agree and give you a go ahead on the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. Whenever I talk to people out my culture or country it is hard to explain that parent consent in marriage important and it is scriptural. I actually thought it is a norm or tradition but it is also spiritual. THANK GOD I FOUND THIS :)
My daily devotion for today in "Open Heavens" was talking about the life of Samson in (Judges 14:1-4). How he was destroyed because he choose wrongly. His parents warmed him no to marry a wife from the "uncircumcised Philistines" but He ignored his parent's advice. He married wrongly and he finally was put in prison/captives in the camp of his enemy. The wife he chooses destroyed his destiny and he did not finish well. I usually hear elders/parents tell their child to marry God's chosen because his/her destiny depends on the partner. Samson disobeyed his parent. The Bible says Honor thy father and thy mother that your days will be long. He didn't honor his father nor his mother's advice and his days wasn't long either (Ephesians 6:1-3). Wow, ever since I have been reading the story of Samson; I've never saw the strong like I did today.
The word of God is mighty, living, and good for our development. It is the greatest book anyone can ever read. Now, I have a spiritual backing to having one's parent consent in Marriage. You can read Judges 14-16 for more understanding. I thank God for revealing this to me. I pray for all singles out there that you will not chose wrongly and you will fulfill God's purpose for your life in Jesus name (Amen).
Stay Blessed!
